Some of the home remedies can help us in relieving pain and cure the disease

Let us see how some of the home remedies can help us in relieving pain and cure the disease we come across in our everyday living:

OIL PULLING:
Dr. Med. Karch, a Russian, introduced a simple process for the Human body by using oil. This was further popularized by Lt. Col T. Koteswara Rao (Retd.). Initially it causes doubts, but after trying it out the results are astonishing.

The Process:

1. Take one spoon of refined oil in the mouth on an empty stomach early in the morning, before eating or drinking anything.

2. Without much effort or speed, slowly suck and pull the oil through the teeth. Gargle the oil within closed mouth for 15 - 20 minutes.

3. During this process, the oil becomes liquid and white like milk. Spit the liquid out and wash your mouth thoroughly, preferably with warm water.

4. DO NOT SWALLOW the oil as it contains toxins and harmful bacteria drawn from the body through the saliva. Continue this process everyday for better results.

The Cure:

The process of Oil Pulling can give relief and cure Headaches, Asthma, Bad Breath, Nose Block, Tooth Pain, Acidity, Ulcers, Cracked Feet, Joint Pains, Stomach Problems, Problems related to Lungs, Liver & Nerves.

Who can practice this:

Oil Pulling can be practiced by all from the age of 5 years onwards for any type of health problems. People who are in a habit of taking a lot of medicines should try this, as it will release a lot of toxins from the body.

Which Oil to be Used:

Any cooking oil can be used, but the most preferred is the Sesame Oil.

CURE FOR ACIDITY:

Acidity, it is said, is worse than Cancer. It is one of the most common dis-ease people encounter in their daily life. The home remedy for Acidity is Raw Grains of Rice.

The Process:

1. Take 8 - 10 grains of raw uncooked rice

2. Swallow it with water before having your breakfast or eating anything in the morning

3. Do this for 21 days to see effective results and continuously for 3 months to eliminate acidity from the body

The Cure:

Reduces acid levels in the body and makes you feel better by the day.

CURE FOR CHOLESTEROL:

Cholesterol problem accompanies with Hypertension and Heart Problems. This is also one of the common problems in people who have High Blood Pressure and Diabetes. The home remedy for Cholesterol problem is RAW SUPARI.

The Process:

1.Take Raw Supari (Betel Nut that is not flavoured) and slice them or make pieces of the same

2.Chew it for about 20 - 40 minutes after every meal

3.Spit it out

The Cure:

When you chew the supari, the saliva takes in the juice that is generated and this acts like a Blood Thinner. Once your blood becomes free flowing, it brings down the pressure in the blood flow, thereby reducing Blood Pressure too.

CURE FOR BLOOD PRESSURE:
One of the simple home remedy cure for Blood Pressure is Methi Seeds or Fenugreek Seeds.

The Process:

1.Take a pinch of Raw Fenugreek Seeds, about 8 - 10 seeds

2.Swallow it with water before taking your breakfast, every morning

The Cure:

The seeds of Fenugreek are considered good to reduce the blood pressure.

CURE FOR DIABETES:

There are 2 home remedies for Diabetes. One is Ladies Finger and the other is Black Tea.

BLACK TEA:Due to high medication, the organ that is worst affected is the Kidney. It has been observed that Black Tea (tea without milk, sugar or lemon) is good for the Kidney. Hence a cup of black tea every morning is highly advisable.

The Process:
1. Boil water along with the tea leaves (any tea leaves will do).

2. Drink the concoction without addingmilk, sugar or lemon.

The Cure:

Black Tea will help in enhancing the function of the kidney, thereby not affecting it more.

LADIES FINGER or OKRA:

Ladies finger is considered to be a good home medicine for diabetes.

The Process:

1.Slit the ladies finger into 2 halves vertically and soak it in water overnight.

2. The next morning, remove the ladies fingers and drink the water, before eating your breakfast.

The Cure:

After the ladies fingers are soaked overnight in the water, you can observe that the water becomes sticky in the morning. This sticky water is considered to be good for people who suffer from Diabetes.

Mobile phones could be charged by the power of speech

For mobile phone users, a flat battery or a lost charger are among the frustrations of modern life.

Now new research promises a way to recharge phones using nothing but the power of the human voice.

Electrical engineers have developed a new technique for turning sound into electricity, allowing a mobile to be powered up while its user holds a conversation.

The technology would also be able to harness background noise and even music to charge a phone while it is not in use.

However, there could be a downside to the innovation, if it gives people a new reason to shout into their phones as they attempt to squeeze in every extra bit of power they can.

Dr Sang-Woo Kim, who has been developing the design at the institute of nanotechnology at Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, South Korea, said: "A number of approaches for scavenging energy from environments have been intensively explored.

"The sound that always exists in our everyday life and environments has been overlooked as a source. This motivated us to realise power generation by turning sound energy from speech, music or noise into electrical power.

"Sound power can be used for various novel applications including cellular phones that can be charged during conversations and sound-insulating walls near highways that generate electricity from the sound of passing vehicles.

"The latter development would have the additional benefit of reducing noise levels near highways by absorbing the sound energy of vehicles."

The technology uses tiny strands of zinc oxide sandwiched between two electrodes. A sound absorbing pad on top vibrates when sound waves hit it, causing the tiny zinc oxide wires to compress and release. This movement generates an electrical current that can then be used to charge a battery.

A prototype of the technology was able to convert sound of around 100 decibels - the equivalent of noisy traffic - to generate 50 millivolts of electricity.

"This is not enough to charge a phone properly, but Dr Kim and his colleagues hope that by altering the material the wires are made from they will be able to produce more energy at lower sounds levels.

He said: "Our current output performance can be applied to various electronic devices with low-power consumption such as self-powered sensors and body-implantable tiny devices. We believe that we can realise more efficient sound-driven nanogenerators."

Researchers and some manufacturers have already started looking at using 'energy scavenging' as a way of powering portable electronic devices.

Scientists have developed devices that can use the heartbeat to power MP3 players, while Nokia has filed a patent for a device which harvests energy from movement, much like a kinetic energy powered watch.

Turn Your Android Phone Into A Remote

At its I/O developer conference in San Francisco on Tuesday, Google showed off a future where someone could use an Android phone to control home appliances-—to turn on and off the lights, the dishwasher or anything else they want to. The technology called Android@Home would be built into appliances so they could wirelessly communicate with Android devices; it would work similar to the way a Bluetooth headset communicates with a mobile phone. Developed as an open wireless protocol, Android@Home allows the OS to connect with any devices that are powered by electricity.

"Think of your phone as the nucleus that this all started with," Joe Britt, engineering director, Google said. "We're opening the platform up to everyone to do whatever they can imagine."

"We'd like to think of your entire home as an accessory, or better yet as a network of accessories, and think of Android as the operating system for your home," Britt added.

While demonstrating the technology, Britt used a Motorola Xoom tablet to control stage lights created by Lighting Science Group--Google’s first officially announced partner. By the end of this year, the LED manufacturer will release the first Android@Home-capable LED light bulbs.

Eric Holland, vice president--electrical engineering, Lighting Science opines that using Android@Home, any developer can write an application to control the lights; they don't need to learn any proprietary protocol from Lighting Science.

"Everything should be Android-ified," Andy Rubin, head of Android, told reporters. "The power of Android is that it can be used by a lot of people in a lot of different ways. We are going to see some pretty interesting stuff."

Google also previewed the Open Accessory toolkit at the conference for hobbyist developers, who don't make washing machines or light bulbs but can make other things that work with Android devices.

QR code reader an interesting technology

CyberMedia's flagship publication on business computing, PCQuest, is driving the convergence of print media and mobile multimedia, with the introduction of QR codes for both editorial content and advertising.A QR (Quick Response) code is a barcode in two dimensions, with a black-and-white pattern of squares (standard barcodes are one-dimensional). Users scan them in a single click on their mobile camera, and the code points to a website or online multimedia content.

Coupled with a camera-equipped mobile-phone, the QR code brings rich multimedia to print.

It lets readers consume the base content in their comfort zone of print (for many) while smoothly moving back and forth to multimedia on their connected mobile, thus extending the print medium into a multimedia environment.

It lets advertisers enhance their print messaging with multimedia, such as with a short video feature or a TV commercial, offering a seamless experience across diverse media.

'We believe that timing the launch of QR codes with the 3G rollout will allow readers to move smoothly onto the next level of interactivity and convergence for print media,' said Mr. Pradeep Gupta, Chairman, CyberMedia, South Asia's largest specialty publishers.

'We expect this advertising and marketing innovation to lead to the rejuvenation of print--integrating print with rich multimedia on the mobile.

What does a reader need?

Any camera-equipped smartphone running a standard platform (Symbian S60, BlackBerry, Android, Java, etc). The phone needs to have a QR code reader app like Flick2Know (www.f2k.mobi) or i-Nigma installed; if not, the user can download and install one in a few minutes.

The user also needs a data connection, preferably 3G or Wi-Fi (2G will also work, but will be slow, and video will be slow). Without 3G or Wi-Fi, however, a user can still download videos to the mobile, to play later.

'QR codes need two things: an internet server somewhere; and a camera-equipped smartphone, preferably running 3G. With 3G just rolling out in India, this is a great time to bring interactivity to print, which was in danger of getting added.

How to Scan QR Codes?
1.Download Flick2Know Scanner App in your mobile if you don't have one.
2.Open the Scanner App and point your mobile camera towards the QR Code
3.Auto-focus feature having phone will automatically detect code.
4.For non-Auto-focus phones, press scan to capture QR Code and then it will show the result

Getting problems in scanning the code?
There can be following possible causes:

Code Centering
Please make sure that while scanning, you are capturing the complete code centering the mobile screen. Codes that are not fully captured(scanned) cannot be decoded.

Code Focusing
For proper and faster scanning of code, try to adjust the distance from the code so that the edges of the code visible in camera are least blurred. The sharper the captured code image will be, the more will be the success probability.

Improper Illumination
Make sure that you are scanning the code in adequate lightening. If a code is just visible to human eye doesn't mean that it will be detected by camera succesfully. A proper illumination is neccesary to scan the code smoothly.

How to Protect Your Eyes When Using a Computer...

Since the majority of us spend hours in front of a computer monitor, it is good practice to protect your eyes from potential damage. Keep in mind that the following recommendations apply only to properly setting up your workstation to best protect your eyes and does not address other ergonomic needs related to working in front of a computer.

Instructions

Taking Proper Care of Your Eyes

1.Take five-minute breaks every hour by looking off into the distance and looking away from the computer monitor.

2.Just close your eyes for a few minutes when your work requires prolonged data input into the computer.

Keeping Proper Distance and Other Safety Measures

1.Keep the distance of the monitor from your eyes between 16 to 30 inches. Most people find a distance of 20 to 26 inches comfortable.

2.Make sure that the top of the monitor is at a level slightly below the horizontal eye level.

3.Tilt the top of the monitor away from you at a 10- to 20-degree angle. Most monitors are provided with tiltable display screens, which enable you to tilt the monitor to create an optimum viewing angle.

4.Keep your screen free of dust and fingerprints.

5.Use an adjustable chair that enables you to sit at a proper angle and distance from your computer monitor screen.

6.Use document holders to secure any reading material or reference material, if your work involves prolonged data entry. Place the document holders close to the monitor and at the same distance from your eyes as your monitor. This enables your eyes to remain focused as they look from the monitor to the reading material.

7.Use a work surface whose height is 26 inches from the ground.

8.Keep the distance from the front of your chair to the hollow of your knee between 2 to 4 inches.

9.Use a character size that is visible. The character size is an important factor since it determines the distance at which the user prefers to view the monitor.

Changing the Appearance of the Text Fonts on Your Computer Screen

1.Point your cursor anywhere on your desktop and right click on Properties. The Display Properties window appears.

2.Click the Appearance tab on the Display Properties window.

3.Go to the Font Size pull-down menu and choose either "Large Fonts" or "Extra Large Fonts" instead of the "Normal" font that has already been pre-selected by default. That is, if you are working on a Windows XP system. Once you have made a choice, you will see a sample of what you have chosen in the upper part of the Display Properties window. Choose what is comfortable for your eyes.

4.Click on the Apply button.

5.Close the Display Properties window.

Ensuring Proper Lighting

1.Use fluorescent tubes to achieve lower illumination levels. Higher illumination levels wash out the image on the screen. Illumination levels refer to the amount of light falling on a surface measured in lux or foot candles (metric and English systems of measurement respectively).

2.Provide supplementary task lighting through lamps. Task lighting allows workers to adjust the illumination level according to their own preferences, if the illumination level is below the suggested ideal of 50 foot candles.

Ensuring Proper Lighting in Your Work Environment To Prevent Glare

1.Glare is caused by non-uniform distribution of luminance within your visual field, as well as bright luminaires or windows. You can prevent glare by reorienting your work station and moving the sources of glare out of your line of sight.

2.Cover windows with Venetian blinds, draperies, shades or filters to reduce glare from sunlight or the luminaires in your work environment.

3.Use panels to block the intensity of light, thereby reducing glare.

4.Adjust the computer's contrast knob to change the brightness of the screen and characters, which will also reduce glare.

5.Position the screen at right angles to the source of light.

6.Avoid wearing bright clothes which may cause a glare by causing a reflection on the screen.

7.Cover your monitor with an anti-glare screen.

How to Boost a WiFi Signal

Some years ago, we came face to face with a world changing technology called the Internet. In order to be able to use the Internet, we had to connect our PC's with long messy wires. Over the years, technology kept advancing and today, we use wireless networking systems. These wireless networking systems have given us the much needed freedom from wires that held us down to a particular desk. Today, we can move about freely using laptops. Not just laptops, but also tablet PC's and our old faithful desktop computers too, can be connected to the Internet with wireless networks. However, a common complaint, faced by users, is a weak WiFi signal while using wireless technologically. We shall take a look at a few tips that will help us learn how to boost a WiFi signal on laptops, as well as computers.

Ways to Boost a Weak WiFi Signal

WiFi signal is a type of radio wave. As the distance of the router from the laptop or computer increases, the signal becomes weaker. The wireless router acts as a transmiter, which is a source of WiFi signal for the wireless adapter of the laptop that receives the signal. So, the output of the router and the distance between the router and adapter are dependent on each other for the WiFi signal strength. Some simple modifications to your state-of-the-art routers will help in boosting the WiFi signal received. If you are suffering from weak signals received on your laptops or computers, then the ways to boost a WiFi signal may prove to be helpful.

Firmware Upgrade
The first thing to check is the router firmware. Most of the time, outdated versions of the router firmware tend to cause weak WiFi signals. You should upgrade your wireless router's firmware to the latest version available. Also, installing the latest driver to the wireless adapter will also help in boosting a weak WiFi signal.

Booster Antenna
Installing a WiFi signal receiver booster antenna to the laptop will help in making the signal stronger. The WiFi antenna booster will help to boost WiFi reception and increase the speed of download considerably.

Signal Repeater
If you are using a WiFi system in your office, or a large apartment, then you need to make sure the signal is received over large distances. For this, you need to install a WiFi signal repeater. This device is very useful in catching the original signal and then amplifying the strength of the signal. This amplified signal is then transmitted over long distances. You should go in for long range WiFi repeaters that will help enhance WiFi signal reception over distant places.

Output Power
The output power of the wireless router should be increased to boost the signal. You can do this by referring to the router manual and enhancing the signal reception on the laptop. Increasing the output power is one of the best ways of boosting WiFi signal.

Extender Antenna
Again, people who are looking for wider coverage area, should go in for extender antenna. When attached to the router, the extender antenna will help increase the coverage area of the router and provide better Internet connectivity.

Router Position
It has been found, placement of the wireless router is very important to boost a weak WiFi signal. If your router is placed in a particular room and you use your laptop or desktop in another room, the distance increases. The signal needs to pass through walls and furniture in order to reach your device. The best place to keep a router is in the center of the room. You can either place it on a table that is in the center of the room or else get it fitted on the ceiling if space is a problem. This will allow the signal to reach all the rooms in your apartment or office. In some cases, placing the router over a bookshelf or table also helps. Align your large furniture along the walls. This will help in increasing the range of WiFi signal better. Wall mount the router, instead of placing it under or at the back of a desk.

New Router
The last option to boost a WiFi signal is buying the latest router that provides high speed of transmission as well as better signal strength. You can upgrade to wireless-N (802.11n). It is found to be faster and has better range along with stability.

This is all about how to boost a WiFi signal. In case of home computing systems, the wireless-N (802.11n) is found to be the best router for long range signal transmission. Try these simple ways to boost a WiFi signal and see an improvement in your Internet connectivity.
